OnePlus is recently going through a lot of changes, CEO Carl Pie left the company and started his own enterprise called Nothing. Moreover, OnePlus announced its integration with another BBK-owned companion, Oppo.
And when the company was moving forward in the middle of all these new changes, OnePlus’ CEO Lau once again left the consumers bewildered. Lau announced that the OnePlus phones in 2022 will no longer have OxygenOS. Instead, they are working on a new unified OS that will share the strength of OxygenOS and ColorOS.
OnePlus previously also announced that their phones will be running Oppo’s ColorOS, but this only partly turned out to be true. The smartphones in China received this change, while the global users are still running OxygenOS.
In the current situation, OnePlus phones in the global market run OxygenOS, while the smartphones launched in China have ColorOS. This means that OnePlus’ latest Android 12-based custom skins are OxygenOS 12 and ColorOS 12 respectively.
However, the stable version of Android 12 is, as of now, only available for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro phones. And the rest of the eligible devices are still waiting, with the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8T testing open beta updates.
