OnePlus is recently going through a lot of changes, CEO Carl Pie left the company and started his own enterprise called Nothing. Moreover, OnePlus announced its integration with another BBK-owned companion, Oppo.
And when the company was moving forward in the middle of all these new changes, OnePlus’ CEO Lau once again left the consumers bewildered. Lau announced that the OnePlus phones in 2022 will no longer have OxygenOS. Instead, they are working on a new unified OS that will share the strength of OxygenOS and ColorOS.
OnePlus previously also announced that their phones will be running Oppo’s ColorOS, but only partly turned out to be true. The smartphones in China received this change, while the global users are still running OxygenOS.
In the current situation, OnePlus phones in the global market run OxygenOS, while the smartphones launched in China have ColorOS. This means that OnePlus’ latest Android 12 based custom skins are OxygenOS 12 and ColorOS 12 respectively.
However, the stable version of Android 12 is, as of now, only available for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro phones. And the rest of the eligible devices are still waiting, with OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8T testing open beta updates.

While OnePlus is stuck on rolling out the Android 12 update, Google, on the other hand, has already released the first developer preview of its next major update, Android 13. This means that the preparation for the next major Android upgrade has begun.
But currently, Android 13 is just limited to Pixel users and it’s way too far for the non-Google phones. According to the roadmap released by Google, the stable Android 13 will be available as soon as August 2022. Ahead of that, Google has 2 DPs and 4 beta updates coming up.
Now, talking about OnePlus’ Android 13 update. In the middle of all the confusion created by the unified OS, OnePlus has recently hinted at OxygenOS 13, leaving all the fans confused and full of questions. The company introduced OEF (Open Ear Forum) to bridge the gap between itself and the users.
Through this program, the company will take feedback from users as an instrument to shape its new OS — the OxygenOS 13. The event is scheduled to take place on February 28 from 19:30 – 21:30 HKT, with the application to apply available from February 11 to February 18.
However, it is not confirmed yet if the OxygenOS 13 will be based on Android 13, but most probably it will be. So, in this article, we’ll be keeping a track of all the leaks, news, and any other information related to OxygenOS 13.
