Google removed the Pixel 4 and 4 XL phones from the Android 13 Beta program. The company promised to release the 4 major OS updates for these phones back in 2019. Now, the company has dropped both phones from the Android 13 QPR1 eligible device list.
However, the Android 13 version was the last major update for these phones. Moreover, Pixel 4 and 4 XL will only receive security patches till this October. These phones may not receive the Android 13 QPR1 stable release this December.
The latest Android version QPR1 eligible devices are Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6a, and the Pixel 6 Pro. Unfortunately, the Pixel 4/XL and below will not receive the Android 13 QPR1 beta or stable update.
The inceptive page of the website shows the absence of the eligible Pixel 4/XL, yet the company has added one to FAQ that might work with Android 13 QPR1 (quarterly platform release).
Additionally, the company will soon add its upcoming Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro to the Android 13 QPR1 beta just after the launch. These phones will get 5 years of major OS updates in the future.
