Update 01 – Feb. 04
Google is now rolling out a fix for the Google Photos on Play Store and users who have the affected version should update their app to version 18.104.22.1686251772 and it’ll all be fixed with Magic Eraser working as usual once again.

Google introduced the Magic Eraser feature in Google Photos along with the Pixel 6 that helps you to eliminate unwanted elements from your photo using AI. Well, it is indeed a decent addition to these phones and does the job accurately enough.
However, lately, it seems that this feature is not working as intended, at least according to some recent reports rolling around. Many users have reported that Magic Eraser is not working on their Pixel 6 phone after the latest Google Photos update and causing the app to crash.
As per the report from AndroidPolice, it’s version 22.214.171.1245427310 of Google Photos which is causing it to crash. There seems no way out of this situation if you are on the affected version.
A fix that may help
The only fix for this issue is to revert back to the previous version of Google Photos and turn off auto-update until Google fixes this issue. Also, there are no official words from Google on this problem and we are still waiting for the company’s acknowledgment.
Or, you can also try other alternatives to Magic Eraser while you wait for the fix. For what its worth, in November 2021, Google unexpectedly removed this feature and then put it back shortly after.
